His name is a German word for “snout” which means mustache because of his distinctively bearded snout.  The Miniature Schnauzer was originated in the mid-to-late 19th century after the crosses between the Standard Schnauzer and one or smaller breeds such as Affenpinscher or Poodle. Later in the 17th century, the Giant Schnauzer was developed. There are numerous breeds used in the development of the Giant Schnauzer. The list includes the black Great Dane, the German Pinscher, and the Bouvier des Flandres.
